The IDP Smart 51L is a dual-sided lamination ID card printer. So not only does this mean that each card is printed with sharp images in high-quality, but it also means the lamination adds an additional secure layer to reduce fading and keep the cards stronger for longer.
Included with this printer is a free version of EasyBadge Lite card design software. The software is limited to 100 records and is not MacOS compatible.
Please note no ribbon or blank plastic cards are supplied with the printer.

The Smart 51L plastic ID card printer not only prints high-quality full-colour and monochrome cards, but it also gives the option of lamination, adding that extra layer of durability and keeping the images more vivid for longer, therefore increasing security for identification purposes.
The IDP Smart 51L uses Enhanced FINE Imaging Technology. This technology delivers photo-like images, vibrant colours, crisp text and scratch and colour-fade resistant cards. The dye sublimation printing at a resolution of 300 dpi creates high-quality cards whilst the true-to-life colour reproduction also ensures that printed cards comply with existing branding guidelines.
Please note, the edge-to-edge printing leaves a thin white border around the outside of the card.

The use of locks can not only secure the cards, ribbons and laminate film, but it can be ordered to include optional Kensington locks to be attached to a desk to reduce the risk of printer theft.
The use of the lamination also increases security as images are much more clear and vibrant for longer, meaning identification can be seen more clearly and therefore not only is your printer secure but if your business is based on identification, then this will be kept safer for longer.
The Smart 51L allows for magnetic, contact and contactless card encoding as additional add-ons. With the use of Enhanced FINE™ Imaging Technology, the IDP Smart 51L can print machine-readable barcodes such as QR codes, 2d barcodes, and traditional 1d barcodes.
The Smart 51L printer is a direct-to-card (DTC) model that has been designed and developed on proven-to-work features from both the IDP Smart 50 and 70 models. DTC printing means the card design is taken from the ribbon and then printed directly onto to the surface of the card which gives it a glossy professional finish. Speeding up the process, the lamination heats up in just 8 seconds and laminates the card as it is printed.
The IDP Smart 51L prints to standard CR80 sized cards from a wide range of materials including PVC, PET, and composite PVC cards.
If you’re printing a high volume of cards each month, then you'll need a printer that you can rely on, that can also produce the highest quality print possible. Based on a standard working week of 35 hours, the IDP Smart 51L will be able to produce around 5,740 dual-sided, full colour (YMCKOK) cards, 7,420 single-sided, full-colour (YMCKO) or a massive 25,200 monochrome single-sided cards.
The Smart 51L can produce 720 monochrome cards per hour, 212 full-colour (YMCKO) single-sided cards per hour and 164 dual-sided, full colour (YMCKOK) cards per hour. This is 10% faster than the IDP Smart 50. When these cards have been printed, they're instantly dry, ready to issue, and scratch and colour fade resistant.
